Trip Start

Our trip starts in Chamonix, France at 8am on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the Mercure Chamonix Centre Hotel (39 rue des Allobroges, Chamonix, tel. +33 45 05 30 756). We recommend arriving in Chamonix one day prior, giving you plenty of time to acclimate, relax and refresh before the adventure begins.

Arrival Airport

The most convenient arrival airport is Geneva Airport (GVA) in Geneva, Switzerland. GVA is a major European travel hub, with direct flights from New York area airports JFK and Newark Liberty (EWR), and Washington's IAD airport. From GVA there are many options to transfer to our starting location in Chamonix, France.

Transfer from Airport

Shared shuttle services run frequently throughout the day from Geneva's GVA airport to Chamonix, charging 30 to 40 euros for the 90-minute ride. You can book shared shuttles on arrival at GVA.

You can pre-book a taxi or private shuttle for 125 to 150 euros per person. Ride-sharing services such as Uber charge 200 to 225 Swiss francs (approx. US$190 - 220) for up to four passengers.

Pre-Arrival Accommodations

We stay in unique, in-demand inns and hotels on this trip—rooms go fast and daily rates change frequently. If you plan to arrive in Chamonix prior to the beginning of our journey, we recommend staying at the Mercure Chamonix Centre Hotel, which is also our meeting spot on Day One. Please contact the hotel directly to book, and let them know you will be on a trip with Modern Adventure.

If the Mercure Chamonix Centre Hotel is booked, we recommend staying at the nearby Hôtel Mont-Blanc.

Trip End

We end our trip—after 12 days of hiking, exploration, connection, and delicious food and drink!—in Nice, France on Thursday, September 22, 2022.

Departure Airport

The closest airport is Nice's Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE), a short drive from our hotel in Menton. This is a different airport from the one we begin at, so make sure to book your outbound flights accordingly.

Transfer to Airport

After breakfast on our last day together, Modern Adventure will organize a complimentary group transfer to Nice's NCE airport, arriving approximately by 8:30am. If you would like to join this transfer, your flight home should be scheduled to depart from NCE at 11am or later. If your flight leaves at an earlier time, from a different location, or if you are planning on extending your time in Nice, you will be responsible for arranging alternative transportation.

Post-Trip Accommodations

Please note that any post-trip accommodations are your responsibility to book, and reservations can be made by contacting the hotel directly, and let them know you are traveling with Modern Adventure.
